1. Hiking right from the doorstep

The best thing about Hochrindl: you don't need a car to be in nature. Marked hiking trails start right in front of the lodge. Popular routes include the alpine meadow loop towards Kegel (1,745 m) for a relaxed 2 hours, or the more challenging hike to the reservoir with panoramic views of the Nockberge. Those who prefer a leisurely walk can stroll through the ancient stone pine and larch forests around Steingartenweg — gnarled trees, some over 500 years old.
Insider tip: Head out early. Between 7 and 9 a.m. you often encounter chamois and deer; later in the day it gets busier.
